Sick Again?!

I don't know how this always happens to me but I'm sick again. Woke up Tuesday morning with a sore throat and have been in bed, sleeping ever since (except to wake up to drink fluids and take Zicam). I had been feeling great! WTF?

@#*#&^!

Maybe it was the 60 mile bike ride on Saturday. Or the 12 mile run on Sunday? How about the 1 mile ocean swim in 63-degree water (with 58-degree cold spots) sans wetsuit (yes, last bikini swim of the season--too cold!)? The guy who sneezed in my hair at the BBQ on Saturday? BINGO! Argh! I realize it was an accident but didn't he know I'm borderline overtrained and therefore immunosuppressed and can't fight off his virus-laden boogers? I'm feeling murderous!

All I know--I felt great this weekend. Went to Yoga class Sunday evening--went home and slept like a baby. Felt okay Monday too--even had a massage. Aren't I pampered? After that, I started feeling not so great. Woke up Tuesday--BAM!

I'm hoping--okay, even praying--that one more day of bed rest is all I need. I will wake up tomorrow feeling right as rain. My little sister is coming for her annual visit tomorrow! First time I've seen her since she turned 21. And we have a big dance party night planned Saturday night! Ya' know, important stuff!

Thank God it's a recovery week, at least...

Hey Rachel,

You're not alone, I'm in the same boat. There's a lot of sick people right now. Something is definitely going around. There's been several at my office with the same thing. So it's not all your fault! Get well soon.

Jameson is probably right about taking vitamins. Maybe up your Vitamin C intake, apparently taking in extra Vitamin C has major immune system perks (according to Dr. Weil) which may be extra helpful during your heavy training periods. Funny how it happens again during your recovery week - maybe something to look into?

Anyways, Get Well Soon!!

I think it is that time of the year again, everybody at my work seems to be sick.

Take it easy on the workouts, I know, hard to do, but light workouts or resting are good for you.. You stil have a long year ahead..

Ugggghhhhh I'm with you chica! Although I can't say mine is from pushing my body to it's physical limits. More like a husband who is around sick people all day and a 3 y.o that goes to preschool. *sigh* The joys of motherhood LOL I hope you feel better soon!

Oh, you poor girl. You do always seem to be sick. I hope you get well soon and you can get to the root of why your immune system seems to be lower than average. take care!

Ouch, that's no fun. I hope it is a short-term thing and you are back at it quickly. Going out dancing with a 21-year-old sounds like an endurance workout to me, so rest up.
